David Kukkola, a Shiatsu Master and Medical Herbalist, brings 30 years experience as a practitioner of traditional healing to his private practice. He is a co-founder, along with Suzanne Woods, of Touch of Sun Herbs in San Francisco, a source of handcrafted herbal formulas drawn from select traditions of herbal medicine.
David specializes in severe and chronic emotional and physical “disorders,” with a focus on the holistic relationship of the body, mind, heart, and spirit in healing. During his studies in Japan, David was introduced to the ancient Art of Kanpo, which means “The Old Way.” The Art of Kanpo is an ancient healing method that integrates the practices of natural healing, meditation and prayer, diet, exercise, herbs and body therapy. David integrates the essential teachings of Kanpo with conscious listening to a client’s story, which reveals the interplay of health and disease within the individual, and the opportunities for healing.
David also teaches and facilitates “Healing Circles” for men, women, children and families to support the fundamental rebuilding of communities. Through his leadership in Healing Ways of the Four Winds, David is working toward the highest expression of a healing tradition that celebrates intimate connections with nature and community, integrates the active wisdom of elders, focuses on wholeness rather than diseases, and utilizes ceremonies and rites of initiation to acknowledge and honor our different phases of life. |
